About two decades ago, I visited the country of Estonia. Tallinn is a vibrant city, and is secured by a wall–mirroring the city of Rome. Whenever I would pass an Orthodox Church, I would stop in and light a candle, while breathing in that distinct beeswax scent so unique to Churches. It was in Tallinn that I was able to purchase a sterling medallion depicting Saint Nicholas. I wore it all during my Prison Ministry. St. Nicholas is a patron Saint of the incarcerated because he would visit the imprisoned and was thought to have been incarcerated for part of his life. I happily remember that on the Eve of his feast day while I was a Seminarian, we would leave a shoe outside of our dorm room door and Saint Nicholas would visit and leave treats for us with the help of upperclassmen. St. Daniel the Stylite and Saint Nicholas, Ora Pro Nobis!
